King George’s Medical University , UP, Lucknow was raised in 1905, has acquired national and global eminence for contributions in medical academics, research, and patient care. It caters to the need of States of UP and others like Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and neighboring country Nepal and offers medical services to more than 20 crore population. It is the largest Residential Medical University in India with Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Paramedical Sciences. King George Medical University was ranked fifth by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) among medical colleges in 2018.

The University campus is spread over an area of 7 sq., Km. with more than 50 buildings. There are more than , 500 faculty positions, 700 resident doctors and in all 5000 employees. This Prestigious Apex Institution has approximately 5300 undergraduate/Post graduate students, getting medical education.
This University imparts 181 MD/MS/Diploma Courses in 24 Specialties and 38 DM/M.Ch. courses in 28 super specialties. Postgraduate courses are offered in MD (119 seats in 16 departments), MS (34 seats in 4 departments), Diploma (26 seats in 4 departments), Diploma (PMHS) 35 seats, MDS (27 seats in 7 departments, DM (15 seats in 4 departments), M.Ch. (23 seats in 7 departments), M.Phil (4 seats in Clinical Psychology) and Ph.D (in various departments).
The Gandhi Memorial and Associated Hospitals of KGMU has over 4500 functional beds with over 4500 patients admitted at any given time, with on an average 10,000 new patient attending the OPD every day.
The competencies and capabilities are utilized to the fullest in order to serve the droves of patients flocking in, incessantly, with greater expectations, every day. More than 15 lac patients visit this Tertiary Care Centre, with 1,00,000 indoor admissions, in every year.
Epidemiology Foundation of India (EFI)
The Epidemiology Foundation of India (EFI) is a scientific consortium consisting of epidemiologists, medical teachers, bio-statisticians, researchers, and scientists from other related disciplines registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.
The broad objectives of the foundation cover development of human resources in epidemiology and bio-statistics, networking of the various institutes at the national level for epidemiological purposes, and consultancies. The Foundation provides a common platform for those practicing epidemiology to interact and benefit mutually towards sharing the development and applications of statistical techniques. EFI provides e-courses on basic epidemiology, research methodology, hospital management, and various issues of public health concern. There are over 6000+ life members spread all over India and abroad contributing to the development of epidemiology. EFI also publishes “Journal of the Epidemiology Foundation of India” (JEFI) .
